Congregation Am HaYam (People of the Sea) is a Jewish Congregation located in Ventura County, California. We are religiously affiliated with the Conservative movement – socially accepting, diverse and welcoming to Jews from various traditions, Jews from mixed families, those who are single or LGBTQ and non-Jews wishing to pursue a Jewish path. We are voyagers on a spiritual sea joined together by our Jewish heritage and traditions. From wherever we have come, we share the blessings of community and the healing touch of friends and faith. We are more than a synagogue. We are family.
As the only Conservative Jewish Synagogue between San Luis Obispo and Thousand Oaks, our members and visitors join with us from a range of towns and cities. People from Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Ojai, Santa Paula and small towns in between, are all welcome to experience our spiritual, open and welcoming community, whether in-person or on Zoom. We even have members from Los Angeles! Everyone is invited for the High Holy Days too! Though we do have reasonable tickets for our most sacred services, no one will ever be turned away.
